A 10-year-old boy from Chongqing, China, made headlines after a disagreement with his mother over unfinished homework led him to run away from home. In a surprising turn of events captured by CCTV, the boy marched into the local Huixing Police Station, seeking to be placed in an orphanage.
Footage shows the boy engaging with police officers, explaining that he had left home due to an argument with his mother about his incomplete homework. He expressed a desire to join an orphanage to escape the daily scolding he received from his mother about his studies.
The police managed to convince the boy to provide his parents’ contact information, enabling them to reach out to his mother. She confirmed the argument, but was shocked that it had led her son to consider running away to an orphanage.
The boy shared his frustration, stating, “My mom scolded me every day for not doing my homework and left the house. She just nags me to study every day. I’d rather go to an orphanage.”
The police successfully calmed the boy and contacted his father to pick him up. Despite initial reluctance, the police managed to persuade the boy that returning home was a better choice than joining an orphanage.
This incident, widely shared on social media and news outlets in China, prompted various reactions. Some interpreted it as a reflection of a generation of indulged children, while others praised the police for their compassionate approach in resolving the situation.
