Despite being aware of his mother’s staged death and his sister’s determination to keep it a secret, Daniel’s actions prove he may not possess the sharpest instincts. One particularly mind-boggling moment occurred when Daniel’s phone rang and, without hesitation, he assumed it was his supposedly deceased mother on the line. Ignoring the possibility of alternative callers, Daniel proceeded to spill Phyllis’s entire plan to an unsuspecting audience, as if it were a well-kept secret.
I mean, who needs caution and restraint when you can freely spill your family’s secrets to anyone who happens to call, right? Daniel is truly the epitome of discretion and trustworthiness. Even if the caller had indeed been Phyllis herself, the consequences remain bleak. Daniel’s careless disclosure would have confirmed to his mother that her son possessed an alarming lack of judgment proving her point even more.

Nonetheless, considering other possibilities, what if the caller turned out to be the notorious Leanna Love, hungry for the latest juicy gossip? And this time, she didn’t even have to fish it out, the prey fell on her fire itself.
Alternatively, it could have been Summer Newman, who finally witnessed how dangerous it was to let her brother know this secret and also that her mom was right on her brother being an absolute idiot.
And what if it was Chance on the other end of the line? A coincidental distraction, such as receiving a simultaneous text message, might have momentarily diverted his attention. With keen awareness, Chance would have seized the opportunity to observe Daniel’s reactions and let him unwittingly reveal more than he intended. After all, law enforcement often employs such tactics during interrogations.
Or imagine if it was poor Lucy who just wanted to reconnect with her father but was so stunned to speak when he picked up the call on the other end. It’s fascinating how Daniel’s profound trust in his own deduction skills allows him to confidently blurt out top-secret information to whoever happens to be on the line. Sherlock Holmes would be proud.
