Expectant mother Sheena Shah, 31, of San Diego, California, has taught her Pomeranian Husky mix dog, Sapphire, to use buttons to communicate with her husband, Sunit. The buttons indicate when Shah, pregnant and due soon, is hungry, thirsty, or in need of care, according to SWNS news.
Shah discovered the buttons with sound components while shopping for toys, training Sapphire to press them with her paws.
Resting in bed as her due date approaches, Shah uses the buttons playfully to communicate her needs to her husband. She directs Sapphire with the phrase “Can you tell Daddy this?” prompting the dog to press corresponding buttons.
Some buttons convey “Mommy” and “water” requests, signaling Shah’s husband to bring water upstairs.
Sapphire, with 700,000 Instagram and 6.3 million TikTok followers, is an integral part of Shah’s life. The dog even participated in their wedding.

Shah believes Sapphire will adapt well to becoming a big sister to their upcoming baby, based on her affectionate nature.
Sapphire’s presence extends beyond social media; Shah authored a children’s book titled “Sapphire: The Dog with Feelings.”
Amid preparations for parenthood, Shah’s innovative connection with Sapphire showcases the unique relationships between humans and their pets.
