The Young and The Restless never disappoint when it comes to dramatic love affairs. Jack Abbott has managed to make a rookie mistake that’s sure to leave him with a broken heart and a depleted bank account. You’d think after being married more times than one can count on their fingers, Jack would have learned a thing or two about prenups.
So, Jack goes ahead and ties the knot with Diane without even bothering to get her Jane Hancock on a prenuptial agreement. We’ve seen it all before, marriages go south, hearts get shattered, and fortunes get lost.
Maybe this isn’t the same old Diane, the money-grubbing social climber we once knew. This is a soap opera, people can change, and sometimes, they even change back. So, when this marriage inevitably hits the rocks, Diane isn’t just going to walk away, she’s going to strut away, and you guessed it, she’ll be walking away filthy rich.
Poor Jack will be left all alone and heartbroken, not just over his dwindling bank account, but also trying to figure out how to face Ashley without getting an earful about how right she was about Diane all along.
Oh, and let’s not forget the joy of a cup of coffee. Where can Jack even go for a simple cup of joe without running into Phyllis, ready to rub some salt in his fresh wounds? But that’s not all. There’s the matter of Kyle too. How will Jack break it to him that he might have just set Diane up to be the next Jill? You remember Jill, right? The one who became a fixture at Jabot thanks to a lucrative divorce settlement from dear old John back in the day.

And while we’re all wondering what on earth Jack was thinking, his portrayer, Peter Bergman, offers some insight. Jack is a man who leads with his heart, and boy, does he feel a lot. Bless his heart, sometimes he gets hurt, but that’s what makes him Jack, right? And if he believes in redemption, then why not have faith in Diane? After all, he’s living proof that people can change.
But still, he’s going to be beyond devastated if he learns that Diane had always been conning him. Or at least that she wasn’t a changed woman. Because we’ll all just yell with Ashley that we told you so, so Jack better have some backup plan ready for when things go awry.
