Nick Newman may do something impulsive that contradicts his ideal self. Nick has been a steady presence, always acting like a responsible adult. We also know that he has been a positive role model for Sally and that he has been taking things slowly with her.
Nick appears to be a believer in the “slow and steady wins the race” philosophy. However, he is beginning to see the biggest flaw in this approach. Things are looking quite bad for Nick as he watches Adam regain Sally’s trust through his persistence at work and the impending birth of their child.
Now that Sally is making some progress toward a better mental state, Nick understandably fears that Adam will be able to woo her back into his circle. Nick is ready to assert his superiority by reminding Adam that Sally preferred the more experienced Newman.
Nick’s competition with Victor Newman could be a factor. Since Sally is pregnant with Adam’s child, Victor can’t believe Nick is still in a relationship with her. The Newman boss also feels that Nick’s behavior is unkind to Adam, who he believes deserves to be given the chance to marry the mother of his child.

If Victor keeps pushing for Nick and Sally to split up, their future as a couple is more likely to be filled with difficulty. Nick’s stubbornness could boil over as a result, and he might act impulsively. Nick tries to tell himself that the battle is solely motivated by his affection for Sally, but he cannot deny the influence of sibling rivalry. Nick may propose impulsively, driven by an unhealthy obsession with swaying Adam’s affections.
Therefore, Nick may mimic his brother in some of his routine behaviors. And then he may decide to propose to Sally and make the case that they should begin a family. In this case, he doesn’t want to fill Adam’s shoes as a parent but does want to start a family with Sally. He has no interest in taking Adam’s place as a father. Nick may grow even more rigid in his views on Sally and their relationship if this trend continues.
However, because of Sally’s independence, this approach could backfire. If Sally refuses Nick’s marriage proposal and flees from him, he risks losing her to Adam. Maybe Sally is so anxious about her feelings for Adam that she’d say yes to Nick’s proposal of marriage. No matter what happens, if Nick proposes to Sally, things will no doubt get complicated moving forward. And with that proposal, this storyline has the potential to take an intriguing turn.
