Young and the Restless 5-2-23 Spoilers | Phyllis TRAGEDY! Legacy Character Exit After Devastating Plot
Phyllis Summer has been digging her own grave, and she isn’t even aware of it. But it is not yet over, though. Although she’s shown her face to her daughter, this battle is long from over. We have been wondering just how far she would go and how she planned to extricate herself from the mess she created.
We still can’t out a pin on if Phyllis will actually have to make a trip to the prison, but let’s take a look at the possibilities.
Some fans think Phyllis has no escape now and is going down. With everything she has done, it is only acceptable for fans to cheer on her downfall. Her reign of terror against Diane and anyone who didn’t share her fury towards her daughter’s mother-in-law was unbearable.
Phyllis framed Diane for her death, then proceeded and killed Jeremy, and also bribed an EMT, and broke into places, which are all serious crimes that could result in prison time. And soon enough, all these secrets will come to light. Who’s going to have her then?
They are other fans who speculate that if Phyllis takes a long break from Genoa City, people may forget about her transgressions, and she could return for a fresh start down the road. I mean, Diane kind of did the same. It was easier for her to ask for forgiveness, and even Jack is head over heels in love with her. Genoa City has a history of having a short memory, and they often forgive and forget. So if she wants to escape the law, Phyllis might have to evade it as the only option for a while.

The majority of fans, however, seem unfazed by Phyllis’s actions. They believe this may not even be the worst thing she’s done, and they have seen her get away with worse in the past. So maybe she’ll beat the rap by playing the victim and blaming others for her misdeeds, and most people will buy into it.
But I personally think the gravity of this situation is way higher than her previous mistakes, which is why it might be hard for her to evade the justice system. But I will not deny the power of a writer’s desire to keep a main character.
Even though she is extremely twisted, she is one of the main characters though. And hence, the writers won’t want to get rid of her, especially since they can still use her character in a lot of ways. So I have to agree that Phyllis might not go to prison, but her crimes won’t be forgiven that easily either.
