Summer Newman will need to reexamine her beliefs. We can see her opposing Diane’s release if it meant taking something from Phyllis. Although her mother-in-law was wrongfully accused of Phyllis’s murder, she has no positive feelings about her.
Summer thinks everything went wrong after Diane stormed Genoa City and tried to take Phyllis’ life. Even though this is not how things happened, Summer still thinks of it this way. However, if Phyllis is sent behind bars, the story might take a dramatic turn.
The way things are shaping up, it’s clear that the Y&R writers are planning for Phyllis’s previous victim to become her potential savior. Phyllis intends to spend a week studying Jeremy’s trial so that she may present compelling facts in her defense.
We think Phyllis’s enemy, Diane, is the only person who can help her out of this jam. Diane and Jeremy have a history from their time spent together in Los Angeles. Jeremy blackmailed Diane into being his money-laundering mule in that situation. As someone who has witnessed Jeremy’s darker side, she knows what its like to get in over one, head with him.
Phyllis’s recent efforts to have Diane wrongfully convicted of murder are particularly disturbing. We now see why Diane despises Phyllis so much. But if Summer decides to do something, it may change things. What if Summer suddenly changes her mind and starts pleading for Phyllis? Is Diane willing to help her rival despite their long history of enmity, as per her daughter-in-law’s request?

Diane’s statement concerning Stark’s violent and manipulating nature could be very helpful to Phyllis’ case. Diane may recollect instances where she felt in danger because of Jeremy and explain how dangerous he was. Now that he is dead, she feels safe enough to relate the terrifying experiences she’s had with Mr. Stark.
Diane’s only motivation for helping Phyllis is a desire to keep Kyle’s marriage from failing. She feels terrible about the pressure she imposed on Kyle and Summer’s relationship. But she is aware that if Kyle finds out what Summer has been keeping from him, the situation will deteriorate rapidly.
But it should be emphasized that Kyle loves Summer very much and might not be able to bear to see his wife in pain after seeing her mom locked behind bars. So, Diane may try to rescue Phyllis from this jam, but the question is: how? Even if she can’t exonerate Phyllis from all charges, she might be able to lend a hand in unexpected ways. A. hopefully, this will be the first step in ending the awful hatred between Diane and Phyllis.
