Phyllis Summers has gotten herself into some deep trouble and is unable to find a way out despite her efforts. Thankfully, she was able to explain her predicament to Summer Newman and win her support. After that, Summer is attempting to cover up for her morn. This begs the question of how far she is willing to go to ensure her safety. What trump card could she possibly play if the situation is against her?
Diane’s actions have had a devastating effect on Summer’s marriage and their son. Consequently, she may have chosen to side with her mother and enjoy Diane’s misfortune. In addition, both her uncle and grandfather have been caught red-handed repeating the same hoax. Summer may find Phyllis’s reasons more convincing than those of Victor or Adam, and more convincing than those of Diane.
Neither Phyllis nor Summer was meant to tell Daniel. Still, she had done so, and he intended to file a police report. In this case, Phyllis was wise not to tell Daniel about her survival; unfortunately, the situation has already progressed beyond her control.

On the other hand, Daniel interprets Jeremy’s words as a threat and is convinced that Phyllis will be pardoned. He had no idea that his mother had helped Jeremy frame Diane. Interestingly enough, no Newman has ever been prosecuted for faking their death, so maybe it would be better to contact Victor rather than Chance.
However, Daniel does not waste any time in informing Chance about everything and immediately begins asking Summer about their mother’s location and condition. Summer would be shocked and distraught by her brother’s betrayal of her and their mother.
Here, Summer’s lone ace in the hole is to play the crazed card. To avoid visiting a doctor and even spending time in a mental rehabilitation clinic, she could fake a nervous breakdown and hallucinations. To keep Phyllis safe, she may lie about the scenario, claiming she was seeing things after such a major incident.
Given Diane’s current predicament as a result of the murder charge, it’s easy to see why Phyllis would prefer to keep her presence a secret. And Summer reasons that pretending to be dead might not be that horrible.
