In a heart-wrenching incident that has left a community in mourning, 13-year-old Fernanda Pacheco Ferraz lost her life tragically. The unfortunate event occurred when she leaned out of a bus window to wave goodbye after leaving school last week.
Seated towards the rear of the bus, Fernanda attempted to bid farewell to her friends. However, a sudden swerve by the bus driver to avoid traffic led to a devastating collision with a pole on the curb. The impact resulted in grave head injuries, tragically ending her young life.
Passengers on the bus quickly alerted the experienced driver, who promptly took action by notifying both the authorities and Nova Faol, the bus company he had served for over a decade.
Despite the swift response of emergency personnel, Fernanda’s injuries proved fatal, and she had already passed away by the time they arrived on the scene.
In the wake of this heartrending incident, Nova Faol released a statement expressing their “regret” over the tragic occurrence and promising full cooperation with the ongoing investigation to uncover the circumstances behind the accident.
The Secretary of State for Education shared their condolences and support, noting the profound pain experienced by Fernanda’s family. In light of the tragedy, classes at her school were suspended for two days to allow the community to come together and mourn her untimely departure.
As the community grapples with this devastating loss, Fernanda was laid to rest at the Trilha do Céu cemetery, marking a solemn end to a young life that held so much promise.
